TOPAX®
MV 450
General
TOPAX®
MV 450-type measuring amplifiers are analog devices
for the measurement of values important in water treatment,
i.e.: pH value, free chlorine, REDOX value and conductivity.
A 3 1/2- digit, 13 mm LC display of the amplifier shows
the actual value. The standard TOPAX®
MV 450 are equipped with two relays
for alarm signaling (max. and min. alarm). The alarms
can be set continuously over the whole measuring range.
If the set value is not reached (min.) or exceeded (max.),
the corresponding relay is activated. The voltage-free
make-and-break contacts are connected to the terminal
strips of the device. Red LEDs on the front plate indicate
an alarm.
After connection of the power supply the measuring
amplifier is ready for operation. For calibration of
the measurement inputs, adjusting controllers are available.
After opening the transparent cover, the
zero point and the range can be set at the relevant
potentiometer by using a screw driver.
Control elements and displays
Digital display
The digital display shows the currently measured value
or the limit values. During normal operation the currently
measured value is displayed. To set and display the
limit values, the tipping switch must be pushed to the
left (min. limit) or to the right (max. limit).
In one of these positions, the required value can be
set by means of a screw driver. If the amplifier is
used for pH value or REDOX measurement and no sensor
is connected or there is a failure, a malfunction of
the display is possible,
i.e., except for "1" in the first place no
digits are visible. In this case the connector plug,
the cable or
the combination electrode must be checked. By short-circuiting
the BNC plug, the display is set to
7.00 pH for the pH value and 0 mV for the REDOX value.
Alarm values
The standard TOPAX®
MV 450 measuring amplifiers have two relays, one for
min. alarm and one for
max. alarm. To set the limit values, the tipping switch
is pushed to the left (min.) or to the right
(max.). The digital display shows the corresponding
limit value and can be adjusted at the relevant
potentiometer by means of a screw driver. If the max.
value is exceeded or the measured value
remains under the min. limit, one of the relays is activated.
The red LED indicates the switching
state of the relay. It it pulls up the LED lights up.
